This is an opportunity to contribute to the community within Stamford Hill, London by becoming an Academy Ambassador at Lubavitch Multi Academy Trust. Board meetings are held at N16 5RP when safe to do so.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

 

The opportunity

A three-school academy trust based in Stamford Hill, North London, Lubavitch MAT seeks one new trustee possessing a strong and demonstrable record in the area/s of finance and general management, along with experience of Chairing committees. The trust serves a unique orthodox Jewish community which has high levels of disadvantage and children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). Following a challenging period, whereby the trust has undertaken some key changes, it is on a positive path and requires an individual with robust management expertise and a strategic mindset to help ensure continued improvement and growth.

 

The board seeks one business leader with board level experience in:

 

·      Finance at CFO level

·      CEO/Managing Director / strategic leadership

·      Chair

 

 

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 – 24 months:

 

 

1.    Continued stabilisation of finances to meet the requirements of the Financial Notice to Improve (FNTI);

2.    Improved education and outcomes for the children in the trust’s primary schools;

3.    Balancing the demands of the community with the need to provide a broad and balanced curriculum.

 

By achieving the three key objectives above, the trust has aspirations to become the main destination for more learners in the local Lubavitch community. Thus, there is a focus on strengthening and developing systems sufficiently in order to grow pupil numbers in the longer term.

 

What’s involved?

Board governance in education is a strategic, ‘eyes on, hands off’ commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours’ time per month.


You will be responsible for:r:


  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

As an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role.
